June New Moon
Updated: Jun 11, 2021

The amavasya New Moon of June presents to us as a ring of fire solar eclipse in the sidereal constellation of Taurus, and the lunar constellation of Mrgasirsa. 0452 MDT 2052 AEST. This occurs during a powerful annular Solar eclipse (Max 1041am UTC) where the chayagraha, the shadow planet of Rahu is revealed, as the luminaries fall briefly into darkness, to reveal what is hidden in our lives.
The lunar mansion of Mrgasirsa is known as the star of exploration will activate themes of desire, earthly abodes, wealth and embodiment with an exchange of 1st and second lords of Mercury and Venus. This may resonate for some time across the physical and mental planes that constellate Taurus and Gemini. And reveal refined possibilities and transformation around the relational world, clarifying our dharma in relation to others, and to how we maintain sanctuary in a rapidly changing world.
The deity of this nakshatra Soma, as the Moon speaks to nourishment. Soma originates from the ancient Vedic texts of India as a ritually prepared substance which makes the astropeep feel enlivened and blessed. To be blessed by Soma is to be offered healing for mind, body and spirit. Transcendence and sanctuary. Soma is known as a young red child of heaven and in the ancient texts is celebrated as a Deity, where mortals may enter the celestial realms by drinking the sweet red juice of Soma.
“We have drunk Soma and become immortal: we have attained the Light discovered by the Gods” RigVeda 8.43.3
While this could be an organic elderberry bev found at your local farmers market, it is also dear astropeeps a celestial portend of being held by the luminous One.
Being held by the sanctuary we create for ourselves, by how we prioritise holding our anxious flighty nervous systems alarmed to the hilt like the Mrgasirsan deer hyper-vigilant seeking searching. What tools do you have to disarm the nuclear codes of your nervous system?
By the light of the emerging luminaries, we return to the light after the past six months struggling and stumbling our way out the darkness. As the lights go out tonight in the northern world, and snow falls heavily here upon my mountain sanctuary may we pause, pray, and drink deeply from the soma of practice.
Ts Eliot in his 1942 poem Beauty in Chaos says …
And all shall be well
and all manner of things shall be well
When the tongues of flame are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one.
